Our chemical formulations

2K Polymer Systems offers a comprehensive range of chemical anchors from a classic polymer compound such as Polyester Styrene-Free (PSF-V) to our latest Pure Epoxy system (EX3). Each of our formulations offer a versatile range of applications and benefits. Our lower level resins are designed for use in masonry and uncracked concrete applications. Whilst at the top end, our methacrylates and pure epoxies are able to be used in more stressful applications, such as cracked concrete, rebar and seismic conditions.

P, PSF, PSF-V

Polyester Resins

2KP’s polyester resin is available with styrene or styrene-free formulation. This radical cure system results in a resin that has a rapid cure time which is also tolerant to cold temperatures. This type of chemistry is a proven and reliable formulation, being a common choice in the construction industry for over 30 years. The combination of the styrene monomer has historically been used as a reactive diluent and crosslinking agent. 2KPS has advanced its technology; it has developed an alternative product with equivalent properties and reduced chemical hazards.

VE, VESF

Vinylester Resins

The 2K vinylester resins are available as both styrenated and styrene-free, with developments that have allowed for the removal of the styrene monomer without reducing performance. This range is radically cured formulation results in a rapid cure time. The change in the polymer backbone results in a greater mechanical performance than that of a polyester resin, along with a resistance to a high pH environment.

EASF, EASF-V

Epoxy Acrylate Resins

Epoxy Acrylate and Epoxy Acrylate Styrene-Free resins are one of our greatest innovations stemming from unsaturated polyester formulations.  They have been engineered to generate a higher bond strength to become one of our high performance resins. Our EASF-V formulation has been tested to withstand C1 Seismic conditions

Bringing the best elements of the Vinylester and Polyester resins together, this highly chemically resistant (alkaline PH) resin has been tested to meet F120, NASF/ ANSI61 and WRAS conditions.

  • EASF-V has been tested for Category C1 seismic performance
EX1, EX2, EX3

Epoxy resins (Pure Epoxy)

Epoxy resins have been used in a wide range of applications since their inception, ranging from basic DIY adhesives to Formula 1 composites. The chemical back bone and high level of crosslinking allow the polymer to meet some of the more demanding challenges of the construction industry, from basic rebar anchoring to seismic conditions. Unlike many chemical anchors from 2K Polymer Systems, the epoxy resins have a relatively slow curing rate. The reduced curing rate is off-set against a higher performing anchor and allows extra time for any adjustments to the bonded part.

Our offset and highest-performing pure epoxy, EX3, is currently being tested for use in diamond drilled holes. Our EX3 epoxy resin has already been granted Seismic C1 & C2 certification.

Bonded anchors

Bonded anchor cartridge systems offer a variety of unique benefits compared to mechanical anchoring techniques. By avoiding mechanical expansion, they introduce no stresses into the substrate and can be installed close to each other and to substrate edges. They also resist high static loads, with some products formally approved for seismic applications. Most resin anchors may be used in a wide variety of substrates and site conditions. If the substrate is hollow, bonded anchors may still be used in conjunction with perforated sleeves.
